What is varnish? Briefly explain its functionVarnish, also called varnish, is simply a transparent coating whose main components are resin and solvent. After it is applied to the surface of an object, it will form a smooth film, which can not only protect the underlying layer, but also make the texture of the object itself clearer and brighter. For example, your wooden tables, floors or metal furniture will immediately look high-end after being sprayed with varnish. But the texture of varnish cannot be just sprayed on casually. You must pay careful attention to the following four points!

1. Pay attention to the concentration: choose the right type of varnish to get twice the result with half the effort
The concentration of varnish mainly depends on the resin and solid content inside. Generally speaking, it is divided into medium-concentration varnish and high-concentration varnish - the higher the concentration, the better the hardness, gloss and durability, and of course the price is slightly higher. But don’t think that expensive ones are everything! Varnishes of different concentrations must be matched with corresponding curing agents: medium-concentration with medium-concentration curing agent, high-concentration with high-concentration curing agent. If they are mismatched, it will be like wearing the wrong shoe size, making it uncomfortable to walk. The paint film may easily have problems, such as insufficient hardness or dull luster.

2. Pay attention to the ratio of curing agent and thinner: if the ratio is incorrect, everything will be lost.
In varnish construction, the most common problem is the ratio! The amount of curing agent and thinner must be added strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions. For example, if you add too much curing agent, the paint film will become brittle and crack when touched; if you add too little, it will dry slowly, have poor hardness, and will not gain gloss. The same goes for thinner. Adding too much will cause the varnish to lose its luster and sag easily (that is, the paint will flow down and form unsightly traces). Adding too little will cause the paint film to be uneven and look speckled.
Usually, the amount of diluent is between 5% and 25%, depending on the manufacturer's instructions. We recommend that you use an electronic scale to weigh accurately and don't rely on your feelings - after all, good paint with good proportions can produce good results.
3. Pay attention to the quality of the front coat of paint: if the foundation is not laid firmly, the upper layer will be wasted.
The varnish is the last layer of "face-saving work", but if the underlying front paint (such as primer or color paint) is not done well, spraying varnish on it will not save it. If the previous coat is rough, uneven, or not dry enough, the varnish will magnify those imperfections—it's like laying carpet over potholes and looking uneven. Therefore, before construction, be sure to ensure that the front coat of paint is evenly applied and fully dry, and if necessary, smooth it with sandpaper.
We have encountered many cases where users complained about the poor varnish effect, only to find out upon investigation that the front coat of paint was not handled properly. Spend more time on the foundation and the subsequent varnish will be the icing on the cake.

4. Pay attention to the construction techniques of varnish: if the technique is correct, the effect will be doubled.
Varnish is usually sprayed 2 to 3 times, and the technique is very important. It is recommended to spray semi-dry and wet for the first time - don't spray too thickly, just a thin layer, wait 5-10 minutes (shorter if the temperature is high, longer if the temperature is low). Use wet spray for the second time, slowly and evenly to make the paint film look thick and smooth. If the brightness is not enough, spray it a third time, but be careful about sagging. Two coats of high-consistency varnish are usually enough.
In addition, the distance, spray width and air pressure of the spray gun must also be adjusted. Different spray guns have different characteristics. Our manufacturer recommends test spraying on a sample first to find the best settings. Once you become proficient in the technique, the texture of the varnish will naturally improve, and the gloss and durability will be great!
The texture of varnish is inseparable from the coordination of concentration, ratio, front-end quality and technique. As a manufacturer, we know that details determine success or failure, so we strictly control quality during production and provide professional guidance.
